About the Office

In accordance with the key pillars of Egypt Vision 2030, particularly the pillar of “Sustainability,” the Sustainability Unit seeks to strengthen the capacity of the university to integrate sustainability principles into its institutional policies, practices, and development priorities. This strategic orientation also emphasizes empowering students, graduates, faculty and staff, and other members of the higher education community to contribute effectively to sustainable development and to promote a culture of sustainability across the University. Accordingly, the Sustainability Office was established under the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, pursuant to University Council Resolution No. (553), dated May 7, 2024. The Office is headed by the President of the University and operates under the supervision of the Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development.

Vision

Fostering innovation and aligning the University’s plans and strategies with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Egypt’s Vision 2030, thereby enhancing its local and regional impact, establishing a more sustainable and inclusive University community, and ensuring the optimal utilization of available resources.

Mission

The University Sustainability Office is committed to developing integrated environmental policies and strategies that support the transition towards environmental sustainability. It seeks to promote and embed a culture of environmental awareness throughout the University community, thereby contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Egypt’s Vision 2030

Sustainability Report

In response to growing global environmental, social, and economic challenges, sustainability has become a core pillar for achieving balanced and inclusive development. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide an integrated global framework to address issues such as climate change, resource depletion, and social inequality.
Within this context, universities play a vital role in advancing sustainability through education, research, and community engagement. The Capital University Sustainability Report highlights the university’s efforts to embed sustainability across academic, environmental, and societal practices, in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030, reaffirming its commitment to a more sustainable future.
