Team “Rehydro” from Mattaria Faculty of Engineering Secures Second Place in the 3rd Edition of YLF Climate Leaders Competition

As part of ongoing efforts to support student innovation and strengthen youth engagement in addressing climate change challenges, the “Rehydro” team from the Faculty of Engineering – Mattaria, Capital University, achieved remarkable success by securing second place in the third edition of the “YLF Climate Leaders” competition. The initiative is recognized as one of the leading platforms empowering students to develop practical and innovative solutions to environmental challenges through projects designed for real-world application.
The participation of Mattaria Engineering students came under the patronage of Professor Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of Capital University, and Professor Dr. Amr Abdel Hadi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering – Mattaria, with the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Helmy, Vice Dean of the Faculty, and Dr. Mohamed Gamal Hassan, the academic supervisor of the team. This reflects the university’s commitment to supporting purposeful student activities and linking the educational process with societal issues and sustainable development, thereby preparing a generation capable of scientific and creative thinking in addressing contemporary environmental challenges.
The “Rehydro” team stands out as one of the distinguished student models that successfully presented an innovative project highly praised by the judging panel. The project was recognized for its clear scientific vision and applicable solutions, reflecting a strong awareness of the importance of water resource management and environmental sustainability. This contributed to the team’s well-deserved second-place achievement.
Professor Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of Capital University, emphasized that the outstanding participation of university students in such events reflects their growing awareness of their societal role, stating:
“We are keen to support our students across all fields, especially those related to future challenges such as climate change. The achievement of the Rehydro team confirms that we have young talents capable of innovation and of offering real solutions that serve society and support the state’s vision for environmental sustainability.”
For his part, Professor Dr. Amr Abdel Hadi, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering – Mattaria, praised the team’s performance, affirming that this achievement reflects the quality of the educational process within the faculty. He stated that they take pride in their students who have proven their ability to transform theoretical knowledge into innovative practical applications. He added that the “Rehydro” team represents a role model of conscious youth with advanced engineering thinking and a clear vision toward environmental and climate issues, which the faculty continuously strives to instill.
