Faculty of Music Education at Capital University Represents Egypt in Arab Music Day Celebration

In line with Capital University’s commitment to supporting refined arts and strengthening cultural and musical identity, the Faculty of Music Education proudly represented the Arab Republic of Egypt in a distinguished celebration marking Arab Music Day, an initiative adopted by the Arab Music Academy for more than fifteen years.
The participation came under the patronage of Professor Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of Capital University, and Professor Dr. Walid El-Srogy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, with the supervision of Professor Dr. Sherine Abdel Latif Badr, Dean of the Faculty, Professor Dr. Mohamed Abdel Qader, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, and Professor Dr. Hytham Sayed, Head of the Department of Arabic Music.
The Mohammed Abdel Wahab Ensemble for Arabic Music at the Faculty of Music Education presented a distinguished selection of instrumental and vocal heritage performances, featuring a group of talented students skilled in playing and singing various Arabic musical instruments. The performance was conducted under the training and leadership of Professor Dr. Manal El-Afify Hamad, Professor at the Department of Arabic Music.
The program included a rich variety of artistic pieces, notably “Khatawat Habibi” by the legendary composer Mohamed Abdel Wahab, and the taqtoqa “Wadi Ommi” composed by Dr. Manal El-Afify. The repertoire also featured a selection of renowned Arabic music works such as “Kan Aghmal Youm,” “Ana Atoub ‘an Hobak Ana,” the mawwal “Beradak Ya Khaliqi,” and the taqtoqa “Kol Da Kan Leh,” in addition to a special medley in the Bayati maqam that brought together a collection of traditional Arabic songs.
The celebration was attended by faculty leadership, academic staff members, teaching assistants, and students from both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, creating a vibrant artistic and cultural atmosphere.
Professor Dr. El-Sayed Kandil, President of the University, affirmed that arts and music are among the most important tools for building cultural awareness and reinforcing national identity, emphasizing the university’s commitment to supporting artistic activities that refine students’ skills, develop their creative abilities, and preserve authentic Arab musical heritage.
Professor Dr. Walid El-Srogy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, stated that celebrating Arab Music Day reflects the university’s role in serving society culturally and artistically, highlighting the importance of linking arts with societal issues and promoting positive values while shaping balanced student personalities.
Professor Dr. Sherine Abdel Latif Badr, Dean of the Faculty, expressed her pride in the outstanding performance of the students during the event, noting that the faculty has consistently organized this celebration for four consecutive years in conjunction with Arab countries’ observance of this day. She emphasized that the event successfully combined authenticity with modernity, aligning with the university’s cultural and enlightenment mission and its continuous efforts to support purposeful arts and revive Arab heritage, thereby strengthening cultural identity among younger generations.
