A New Achievement for the Molecular Biotechnology Program at the Faculty of Science, Capital University in the SOLE Competition

Students of the Molecular Biotechnology Program at the Faculty of Science – Capital University, under the patronage of Prof. El-Sayed Kandil, President of the University, and Prof. Magdy El-Hagry, Dean of the Faculty of Science, achieved a remarkable accomplishment during their participation in the SOLE Competition. The team won three awards across three different tracks, reaffirming the program’s academic, practical, and skills-based excellence.

In the Biotech Explorer track, which included participation from second- and fourth-level students, the competition focused on assessing laboratory skills and logical thinking through solving scientific problems and applying both Dry Lab and Wet Lab techniques. The team secured second place and the silver medal, reflecting the students’ strong applied and research competencies.

In the Question & Answer (Q&A) track, which measures students’ mastery of academic knowledge and scientific concepts acquired throughout their studies, third- and fourth-level students participated and achieved fourth place and the bronze medal, highlighting the program’s strong academic foundation.

Additionally, a second-level student excelled in the Science Communication track, which evaluates presentation and scientific communication skills. The student earned fourth place and the bronze medal, demonstrating the program’s ability to prepare students to effectively simplify and professionally present scientific concepts.

This achievement represents a practical translation of the Faculty’s continuous efforts to develop the educational process and integrate theoretical study with practical application, preparing qualified graduates capable of competing in various scientific forums. The program is supervised by Dr. Mennatallah Hussein, Program Coordinator, and Dr. Amira El-Sayed, Program Registrar.

Prof. El-Sayed Kandil, President of Capital University, expressed his pride in the achievements of the Molecular Biotechnology students, affirming that these results reflect the success of the university’s strategy in supporting innovation and scientific research, while strengthening students’ practical and competitive skills. He added that the university remains committed to providing an advanced educational environment that fosters creativity and encourages participation in local and international scientific competitions and events.

Prof. Magdy El-Hagry, Dean of the Faculty of Science, emphasized that this achievement embodies the excellence and leadership of the Molecular Biotechnology Program within the Faculty. He noted that the diversity of awards across applied, academic, and science communication tracks reflects the comprehensive preparation of students.
